Different material, different care
Tile does not contain asphalt, so our shingle treatment is never applied to it. Tile benefits from a wash and a protective coat instead.
Concrete varieties are especially porous: it soaks up rain, stays damp under the trees, and gives algae a foothold. We clean the tile gently, wait until it is thoroughly dry, and then apply a clear sealer that reduces water uptake and slows staining.
